Elizabeth Aylward

Dr. Elizabeth Aylward is a seasoned professional who recently retired as the Director of the Office of Science-Industry Partnerships at Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). She now works as a consultant in medical research, with a focus on advising academic and nonprofit institutions on developing industry partnerships and guiding pharmaceutical companies on forming collaborations with academic scientists. Additionally, she has a keen interest in serving on Data Safety Monitoring Committees for clinical trials.

During her tenure at SCRI, Dr. Aylward played a pivotal role in establishing partnerships between SCRI investigators and various industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and medical technology. Her efforts were aimed at translating discoveries made at SCRI into the marketplace for the benefit of children. She also managed an internal fund that supported collaborative projects between SCRI scientists and industry partners.

Prior to leading the Office of Science-Industry Partnerships, Dr. Aylward held positions as the Associate Director of the SCRI Center for Integrative Brain Research. She also has an impressive academic background, having served as a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Washington and as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her research expertise lies in neuroimaging studies related to neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Aylward holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from Vanderbilt University. Her extensive experience spans across various renowned organizations, including her roles as a Consultant in Medical Research, Director of Office of Science-Industry Partnerships at SCRI, Associate Director of Center for Integrative Brain Research at SCRI, Professor at the University of Washington, and Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
