As dawn graced the Colorado sky on June 29th, Liam and I embarked on a journey that was as much about the heart as the miles ahead. At 6:30 AM, the 81-mile route beckoned, promising a 102-mile challenge if we reached the pivotal 74-mile turn-off by 1:30 PM. With Liam's steadfast resolve guiding us, we accomplished this feat at 12:15 PM, ready to face the 28-mile detour and the mountain's daunting embrace.
The ascent was immediate and unrelenting, with three steep hills marking the beginning of our mountainous challenge. Over the next five miles, the first hill climbed 215 feet over 3/4 mile, the second rose 220 feet in just 1/2 mile, and the third hill, in a final test of our fortitude, ascended another 120 feet over 1/2 mile. In the intense 90-degree heat, Liam's unwavering tenacity was a beacon of inspiration. On his inaugural 150-mile ride, he scaled each climb with the poise of a composed rider, his spirit unshaken. It was an actual test of his physical and mental strength.
The 28-mile detour added three hours and profoundly displayed Liam's strength and resilience. We completed our first day's voyage in 9 hours, with nearly 7 hours of ride time, mastering the 102-mile route at an average speed of 15 mph and an elevation gain of 4,150 feet.
The following day, we continued our adventure with a 68-mile ride. Departing at 6:15 AM, we built upon the memories of the day before, crossing the finish line 6 hours and 15 minutes later with 4 hours and 45 minutes of ride time. This two-day, 170-mile journey was more than a testament to physical endurance—an emotional journey of the heart and spirit. As we crossed the finish line, my heart swelled with pride for Liam's incredible achievement in honor of his mother. At 14, his resolve and resilience had seen us through; his courage and grace in the face of this challenge were truly remarkable. I am forever inspired and beyond proud.

In 2012, Samantha embarked on her first 150-mile MS 150 Colorado Ride, a feat she repeated six times. Despite not having a personal connection to MS, her commitment to fitness and the joy of contributing to a noble cause was evident.
I joined her five times over the years, and the last time we rode together was in 2018 before she passed away in 2022.
Last year, fearing the emotional toll, I hesitated to ride the MS 150 alone. However, our 14-year-old son, when he became eligible, offered to ride with me in his mother's memory. This year, I am overjoyed to have him join me in his first-ever 150-mile ride, riding his mother's bike as a symbol of her spirit.
This year's ride, spanning June 29th to 30th, is a two-day challenge. Our collective aim is to raise a significant amount of $2022, symbolizing the year of Samantha's passing, in support of the MS cause. Please help us reach this goal by donating to our team.
