Elton Santos

Associate Professor at Queen's University, Charles Hatchett 2020 Award Winner

Elton Santos is an expert in theoretical condensed matter physics and computational materials science with a focus on the electronic and magnetic properties of carbon nanostructures. He has conducted research on investigating the impact of doping and defects on carbon features through ab initio simulations and calculations of scattering and spin transport of nanoscale materials.

Elton's education includes a Master's degree and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Education from Donostia International Physics Center, a Master's degree from Universidad Del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, a Doctorate in Philosophy in Education from Danish Technical University, additional studies at Harvard University, Stanford University, and Technical University Of Denmark, and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Physics from Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC).

Elton Santos has held positions as an Associate Professor at Queen's University Belfast, a Research Associate at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, a Stanford Research Associate at Stanford University, a Seas Research Scholar at Harvard John A.
