Em's academic credentials are as impressive as her professional accomplishments. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Public Policy and Administration from Ryerson University, a foundation that has enabled her to navigate complex organizational dynamics and advocate effectively for policy changes that promote gender equity and inclusion. In addition to her master's degree, Em holds a Bachelor of Arts and Education in Sociology and Mathematics from Queen's University, reflecting her diverse intellectual interests and dedication to education.
Em’s significant contributions to leadership and diversity have earned her recognition and roles in a variety of impactful organizations. She is a co-founder of Inner Circles, an innovative initiative aimed at creating supportive networks for professional women. Previously, she founded and managed Circles2, where she helped connect women leaders to enhance mentorship and professional growth. Her role as the APAC Regional Director at WOMEN Unlimited, Inc., showcases her commitment to empowering women through education and networking opportunities.
Em has also taken on leadership roles in various professional networks, serving as a committee member at 85 Broads and as the President of the Viva Beijing Professional Women’s Network. Her dedication to education is evident in her earlier roles, which include being the Communications Director at the World Security Institute and the Program Director for the Prison Literacy Initiative at Frontier College, where she championed literacy programs in challenging environments.
Global Experience and Cultural Adaptation
Hailing from Toronto, Em’s career has largely unfolded in Asia, where she established herself in Beijing starting in 2006. This diverse experience across cultures has enriched her perspective as a coach and consultant. She relocated to Bali, Indonesia, for a sabbatical at the onset of 2020 with the purpose of writing a book, but the pandemic led her to stay and embrace new professional opportunities. This unanticipated journey has allowed her to work with new communities and adapt her approach to professional and personal life, leading to innovative methods in balancing motherhood and career that resonate with many women navigating the complexities of the current global environment.
