I wonder if they thought "EDR is enough"? Sounds like this was likely the result of compromised credentials. I have to imagine a company like Nissan invests millions of dollars each year in cybersecurity tools, but the end user is always the weakest link, and we all know it - including threat actors. Their playbook is often: capture credentials, escalate privileges, bypass EDR and other security tools, exfiltrate and encrypt, collect the ransom.

Halcyon has proven to be effective against Akira (used in this breach) and every other ransomware variant. And we cost way less than that free identity theft protection Nissan has provided to the 53,000 current and former employers whose PII was compromised, not to mention post-breach consulting fees, downtime, and damage to the brand.

Nobody is immune to ransomware... but Halcyon clients can rest a little easier knowing that in this same situation, there would have been no breach to report and no personal information exfiltrated.

Armor your endpoints and supplement your security stack with Halcyon, and rest a little easier.
