Dr. Eren Kocyigit, Burak Yaman here's what I was suuper impressed with:
💸 So many of the early-stage Startups are already revenue generating despite being early on in their journey (Pre Seed, Seed)
💿 They build solid tech with significant R&D, and often come with expert-led PhD-stacked teams
🚀 They've also come with impressive distribution networks, contracts signed, clients on board and solid YoY growth.

You can generally categorise investors in your round into Leaders, Co-Leaders, Followers, and Everyone Else:
LEAD INVESTOR:
- Typically a VC fund. They fill at least 50% of the raise and give you your first Term Sheet to set the terms
- Usually are your most active investor
- Should support you: intros, board meetings, advisory, help with hires etc.
CO-LEAD INVESTORS:
- Still desire the leading position however with a lower level of responsibility (and allocation of the round) compared to the lead VC
- If a VC wants to co-lead, you might need to find another to co-lead with them (but some VCs can introduce you)
- The bigger check size, the more likely that you’ll need to do a syndicated round.
FOLLOW-ON INVESTORS:
- this could be smaller VC firms, Superangels, or HNWIs.
- typically receive the same class of equity as the Lead Investor but less rights
- Usually put in smaller cheques and unlikely to get board seats or observer rights.
- Their goal is to diversify risk.
- Go for lower % of equity ownership, likely to be in single digits.
EVERYONE ELSE:
- e.g. Accelerators, Incubators, Angel Investors, HNWIs, other Entrepreneurs (exited founders can be a great source of both advisory + funding), Friends & Family.
- With many Angel cheques coming in, watch out for your cap table getting too messy: you might want to set up an SPV For them.
