Evan Klavon, PhD, is a highly skilled and experienced English scholar with a rich background in teaching and research. With a PhD in English and over 7 years of teaching experience across various educational levels, from high school to graduate students, Evan has instructed on a wide range of subjects including composition, literature, creative writing, linguistics, cognitive science, environmental studies, and pedagogy. His passion lies in exploring the intersections of literature, education, and communication towards fostering social change.

As a researcher, Evan's work delves into the mechanisms of literature and its potential impact. His dissertation, 'What Poetry Makes Happen,' intricately weaves together insights from poetics, cognitive linguistics, and neuroscience to unravel the ways in which poetic language influences readers' imaginative experiences. By advocating for the social relevance of poetry addressing themes like ecology, racism, and disability, Evan showcases a unique approach to literary analysis and cultural commentary. Evan's academic journey includes a PhD in English from UC Berkeley, an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from the University of Washington, a BA in English from Amherst College, along with stints as a Visiting Student in English and Philosophy at the University of Oxford and an MA in English focusing on Irish Literature from Queen's University Belfast. Throughout his career, Evan has been associated with reputable institutions such as St. Paul Academy and Summit School, UC Berkeley, University of Washington, ASUW Experimental College, and Queen's University Belfast, where he held positions ranging from Assistant Pedagogy Coordinator to Academic Director.
