Gabriel Bermea

Advancing Institutional Transformation to Accelerate Latino Student Success.

Gabriel Bermea is a seasoned professional with over 13 years of experience in higher education. Currently a Lecturer of Educational Leadership at Sam Houston State University, he also holds positions as a Visiting Scholar at the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions and as a Senior Research Analyst at Excelencia in Education. Gabriel's expertise lies in developing and implementing campus-wide enrollment and student success strategies to promote accessibility and achievement in higher education. His research interests encompass areas such as Hispanic-Serving Institutions, first-generation student success, academic advising, and student success in Minority Serving Institutions. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Studies and Higher Education Administration, respectively, from Texas Tech University, along with a Master’s in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University and an Ed.D. in Higher Education and Organizational Change from Benedictine University.
