Gail Carson is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in infectious diseases and public health.

Having started her journey during the Ugandan Ebola outbreak in 2000, working with the WHO, she has since been actively involved in various infectious disease outbreaks across different regions.

Her career highlights include serving as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at Public Health England, where she played a pivotal role in setting up networks and intensivists during the 2009/2010 flu pandemic.

In 2011, she took the initiative to establish ISARIC, recognizing the critical need for rapid clinical research outcomes to inform patient care and policy decisions.

Gail's contributions to global health extend further as she was elected to the GOARN Steering Committee in 2018, demonstrating her commitment to capacity building and resilience in response efforts.

Her current role as the Scientific Secretariat to the funders consortium GloPID-R showcases her expertise in overseeing financial support for essential research initiatives.

Alongside her professional endeavors, Gail has pursued continuous learning, obtaining a Diploma in Organisational Leadership from The Said Business School at the University of Oxford in 2017.

As an Associate Fellow at the Said Business School, she collaborates on scenario planning projects, showcasing a dedication to innovation and strategic foresight.

With a strong educational background encompassing Medicine, Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, and Organisational Leadership, Gail Carson combines her expertise to lead impactful initiatives in global health preparedness and response efforts.

Her holistic approach to tackling infectious diseases, coupled with a collaborative spirit, has been instrumental in driving successful outcomes in challenging and dynamic environments.
