One of the great, untold stories of the pandemic: most of our small businesses survived. There wasn’t a great small business die-off, as predicted or feared. Small-business entrepreneurs demonstrated the drive and passion and found workarounds and adopted other strategies for survival.

It didn’t hurt that the federal government diverted $1 trillion or so to help businesses with under 500 employees survive the pandemic. Another factor: a renewed appreciation among the general public for small businesses when forced to think about their life if they closed.
