Giovanna Castellano is an esteemed Associate Professor in Informatics at the University of Bari A. Moro, Italy, with a rich academic background in Computer Science. She obtained her Ms.Sci degree in Informatics in 1993 from the same university, followed by a Ph.D. in Informatics in 2001. Her journey in academia includes roles as a fellow researcher at the CNR Institute for Signal and Image Processing in Bari and an Assistant Professor at the University of Bari before assuming her current position. Giovanna is renowned for her expertise in Computational Intelligence, particularly in areas such as fuzzy systems, neural networks, neuro-fuzzy modeling, fuzzy clustering, granular computing, fuzzy image processing, and computer vision. She is actively engaged in research focusing on the application of fuzzy techniques in image processing, leading the Computational Intelligence Laboratory at the Computer Science Department of the University of Bari. Throughout her career, Giovanna has co-authored over 200 papers published in prestigious scientific journals, book collections, and international conference proceedings. She has contributed to numerous research projects, organized special sessions, and workshops at international conferences, showcasing her leadership and commitment to advancing the field of Computational Intelligence.
