Imagine having to travel to Ukraine from Scotland to get a dental appointment?

Those were the lengths a mum was willing to go to so her daughter could receive treatment from her family dentist because she simply couldn’t make it happen here.

Here’s my latest report for BBC Morning Live featuring Eddie Crouch Chair of the British Dental Association.

I was really moved by an incredible human being I met last night and I would love to introduce you to her.

Sarah de Lagarde had just returned to London after summitting Kilimanjaro with her husband, Jeremy, when tragedy struck in September 2020.

On her commute home on the Northern Line, she slipped between the train and the platform at High Barnet station. She was then run over not once, but twice, before anyone realised what had happened.

Two years later she is one of the first to have an AI bionic arm - which can even flip the middle finger. And of all the guests on the show, she has every right to show her dissatisfaction when you hear the catalogue of staggering failings in her account of that night.

She’s already back at work three days a week and now explains her story to inspire others recovering from traumatic injuries.

Thank you Sarah for being so open on BBC 5 Live and delivering your inspirational story of a life-changing event in such a composed, articulate, calm and detailed manner. Your daughters, husband and colleagues must be so proud of you.

Thank you, Sarah. The interview starts at 1hr 18minutes. A life less ordinary…
