Greg Kubacki

Greg Kubacki is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alabama.136 He joined the faculty in 2019 after completing his post-doctoral research at the University of Virginia.1 Kubacki holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Clemson University (2018) and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech (2013).16

Dr. Kubacki's research focuses on the structure-property relationships affecting corrosion behavior in structural and biomedical alloys, particularly those processed through advanced fabrication methods like laser-based or solid-state additive manufacturing.6 He is also interested in exploring how local environmental conditions influence passivity and electrochemical processes on metal surfaces.6

In addition to his academic career, Greg Kubacki is also known as a musician. He is the guitarist and principal songwriter for the New York-based mathcore band Car Bomb.245 Kubacki has been with Car Bomb since its formation around 2000, and has contributed to several albums including "Centralia" (2007), "w^w^^w^w" (2012), "Meta" (2016), and "Mordial" (2019).4
