Gen AI  / AI hype will die down over next 12 months ???

Friends, I am starting to form the following predictions about Gen AI / AI:

1.    Year 2025:

a.     The Gen AI (and possibly AI) hype will die down. This could include enterprise investments, VC investments as well as stock market. b.    This 'slow down' in AI, will open up the hiring that has been frozen / paused as companies are waiting for GenAI / AI projects to deliver efficiencies.

2.     Year 2027:

a.     Gen AI and AI will truly start delivering massive impact.  b.    There will be new category leaders in GenAI / AI space that start to scale massively.

Over the next few weeks, I will share supporting materials and thinking behind these predictions.

Message me if you are interested in discussing these? Or if you have perspectives that counter these predictions.

Key points from the Llama 3 blog post:

  1. Effective use of training data.

They have used more data, more processing of that data, more tuning ( quality control) of that data - than previously reported efforts.

This further supports the trend for a solid approach for data prep and data generation towards better models. Not just adding more parameters ( larger models).

  1. Instruction Fine Tunning.

It is becoming increasingly clear that SFT and IFT will play a key role in developing smaller yet more powerful models.

  1. Purpose - built models.

By appropriately selecting unique training objectives, focusing on the right data to be used that is suited for that objective, they were able to release multiple models that were each better for their area of focus than generic models.

  1. Simpler architecture.

More efforts were spent on data and training/ evaluation improvements. Model architecture was left untouched mostly!

  1. Multi Modal and Multi lingual models are coming.

As per the 400B parameter model preview.
