Highlights
Since I was a wee li’l marketer, I always had a passion for the environment. I advocated for recycling, I actively sought out classes about sustainability in college, and I always looked for working for companies that shared the environment as a priority.
The challenge was, the environment was a secondary. An ESG checkbox they sought to fulfill, more than a primary driver or mission.
I dreamed of a time when my skills in sales and marketing would be of great value to a non profit that aligned with my values, and I could see the direct impact of my work.
I’m grateful to say, that time has come to be the present. A series of events lead me to:
- Move from SW Florida to the Foothills of the blue ridge mountains in NC
- Find a non profit land trust conservancy that is located near our new home when Sarah saw their sticker at a local brewery
- See a job posting that perfectly fits an ideal role for me on their page and applying for it
- Get the role and have to choose to leave my old job and the people I loved working with behind to start a new journey
I’m honored to say, I’ve joined the elite team of environmentalists at Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina, as a Marketing & Development Manager.
FCNC is about to celebrate its 30th year, and has established a reputation in the industry of leading land trust conservation. Our passion for protecting the lands of western North Carolina guides our ability to keep land undeveloped.
Forever, for the benefit of all, is one of our slogans, and it rings true. We’ve protected over 70,000 of the most beautiful acres of land, keeping endangered animals and unique species of plants safe from development to grow.
The road has just begun for me down this path. I’m so excited to see what challenges and solutions we can concoct to continue our efforts and make lands more publicly accessible without paving them over.
I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Marketing & Development Manager at Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina!
Some people say, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” Other people prefer the saying, “time is an illusion.”
I feel like both of these statements are true:
- I feel like I blinked and 9 years passed
- In the last 9 years of employment at Gartner, 25% of my life, I worked on and accomplished so many things, collaborated with hundreds of people, and was able to make some of my personal dreams come true.
Much like that episode of Friends, I recently came to the conclusion that it is time for it to be “the end of an era.” This is a bittersweet change. Leaving a lot of people I care about makes it bitter, and a lot of things that makes it sweet.
I have learned a lot, and I feel ready and excited for what’s next. It’s going to be an amazing journey, and I hope you’ll enjoying hearing more as I share my next adventure soon.
