This is to my German-reading friends and colleagues… Last month I had the opportunity to be interviewed for LaborJournal, the leading journal for biological and medical laboratories in the German speaking world. We discussed the Oct. 7th attack on Israel, how the ensuing war affects Israelis in Germany and specifically those of us in the academic world. The events of the past six months have brought to light the misconceptions, racism and bigotry that unfortunately are still widespread and can only be addressed if we speak up. As scientists and as part of the academic world we have an obligation to pursue knowledge but also to share our knowledge and experiences so as to inform others and to advance a more fact-based dialogue.
