Ilke Demir

Senior Research Scientist at Intel Corporation

Dr. Ilke Demir is a prominent figure in the fields of computer vision and machine learning, specializing in generative models for digitizing physical environments, geospatial machine learning, and computational geometry.

She acquired her educational background with a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University, followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Purdue University, where her research delved into geometric and topological shape processing for tasks like reconstruction and synthesis, pioneering proceduralization.

During her tenure as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Facebook, under the guidance of Ramesh Raskar, Dr. Demir made significant contributions, notably in generative street addresses and deep learning for virtual reality and geospatial applications, earning global recognition.

Currently, Dr. Demir spearheads 3D vision research at Intel Studios, focusing on advancing volumetric capture technologies.

Beyond her research, she has a strong publication record, including presenting at top conferences like SIGGRAPH, ICCV, and CVPR, and actively engages in organizing workshops and courses on deep learning and computer vision.

Dr. Demir has received accolades such as the Jack Dangermond Award, Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship, and has been recognized as an Industry Distinguished Lecturer and GHC Fellow.

Aside from her professional achievements, she is a staunch advocate for women and underrepresented minorities in STEM, dedicating considerable time to supporting women in science initiatives over the past decade.
