Ingvald Smith-Kielland is an award-winning design leader with a hands-on approach, known for driving innovation in products, services, and experiences across various industries.

Throughout his career, he has successfully contributed to the development of over 40 commercialized products and services, benefiting both startups and Fortune 500 companies.

His expertise lies in leading research, strategic planning, and creative projects for renowned brands such as Intel, PepsiCo, Unilever, SC Johnson, Hamilton Medical, and LG.

With a strong focus on understanding people and translating insights into actionable business opportunities, Ingvald excels in storytelling and bridging the gap between data, strategy, and tangible outcomes.

Having graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a degree in product design, Ingvald has amassed a collection of awards and international patents, showcasing his accomplishments in the field.

He has shared his knowledge through speaking engagements at prestigious institutions like Harvard, USC, and Pratt, while also contributing as a judge for design awards and a mentor at UCLA.

Ingvald's skill set includes UX research, experience design, service design, co-creation, behavior prototyping, innovation consulting, entrepreneurship, user-centered design, storytelling, qualitative research, moderation, design management, and business development.

Currently serving as the Director of Product and Service Design at Optum, his previous roles include partnerships with Live International Holding, Pull Experience Inc., PepsiCo, BMW Group DesignworksUSA, RKS Design, Ziba Design, and Universal Electronics, as well as experience in the Norwegian Armed Forces.
