Consumers don't buy AI.

Seriously, the results were unanimous. 100% of respondents said they distrusted products labeled with AI. To ignore this, or to try and explain away the results, is a disservice to the advances and opportunities of the field.

The sober outlook is not as complicated as people would like this to be. Most people, newly minted "experts" especially, do not fully grasp #AI. Both bluster and doom lack nuance. Importantly, most inventors have zero practical understanding of #human behavior or consumption patterns.

Personally, I believe in the power of human creativity. And I believe AI to be a new and amazing tool that will help us further harness the universe.

But, like I used to tell my dad, "You shouldn't put ketchup on everything."

There are two types of people in this world…

… hahaha! This is one of the biggest misconceptions in our world. Frankly, it’s usually one made by high-functioning people who assume, because they grasp a subject well, that others fit their assumptions.

This assumption is also a primary culprit in most, if not all, strategic f@!& ups. Engineers, Financeers, Marketers, Designers, Operators, we all become myopic. This is why we have so so so so so many highly specialized vertical apps. It’s easier to silo people and problems into things we understand.

This is unavoidable. This is also the primary driver of the problem Shawn Busteed and I are building at The Everyday Company. A way to unite us all and our different needs and ways of working in one. Helping us all work better.
