When we initially incubated GetReal Labs, my partner Ted Schlein knew #deepfakes would have an impact not just on consumers but on how enterprises did business as well. Ted teamed with the world's leading expert in deepfake detection, Hany Farid, and our fellow partner Roger Thornton in starting the company.
What's incredible was this insight was before the #generativeAI wave hit. It's been amazing (and scary) to see this market go from an insight to massive consequences and impact happening every day in such a short period of time.
Beyond what we see as consumers, how is it impacting enterprises? In a distributed Zoom world, the candidate you interview online may not really be the person you end up hiring and giving access to all your internal systems. The CEO that tells you to quickly send out an urgent wire transfer of a large sum of cash may not actually be the CEO. The business partner that you think you did a deal and shared proprietary information with with may not really be the person you thought. And every day adversaries are getting more and more creative.
We're excited to welcome Matthew Moynahan, ex CEO of OneSpan, Forcepoint and Veracode as the new CEO of GetReal Labs. We think there's a massive opportunity in solving this problem for what seems like every large enterprise that has to deal with the real consequences of deepfakes.

Some of the largest #cybersecurity companies have been created by protecting the enterprise edge. For example, the network edge protected by Palo Alto Networks and the endpoint edge protected by CrowdStrike. But there's a new enterprise edge emerging:
It's the identity edge and enterprises are realizing that there are many more identities than endpoints that have to be secured.
The move to cloud and SaaS along has made this identity edge much larger, much more fragmented and much more vulnerable to attack than in the past.
Portfolio company AuthMind has taken a wholistic approach to protecting the identity edge and IBM saw this unique approach when ultimately selecting to OEM their product.
Congratulations to AuthMind and IBM in striking this OEM partnership with "IBM Verify Identity Protection" launching Q2 2024.
