Jamie Yoder

Associate Professor at Colorado State University

Jamie Yoder is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Colorado State University with a rich background in academia and practice. With a PhD in Social Work from the University of Denver, Jamie's research focuses on youth violence, sexual violence, poly-victimization, and complex trauma among other areas.

Having previously worked as a milieu coordinator, case manager, and licensed therapist, Jamie's research interests lie in understanding delinquent and sexually harmful behaviors in youth and exploring systemic interventions to reduce recidivism. Jamie has teaching expertise in child & adolescent services, clinical skills, risk & resilience, and more.

Jamie's theoretical positions revolve around Family Systems, Family Stress, General Strain, Social Control, and other related theories. Through a social justice lens, Jamie values community-based care models, systemic and family approaches, and reducing disproportionate minority contact in the juvenile justice system.

Outside of academia, Jamie finds joy in family life with a husband, two boys named George & Simon, and a dog named Huckleberry. Outdoor activities, exercise, reading, music, and spending time with family and friends are some of Jamie's interests and sources of excitement in life.
