Hey Folks!

Last few years have been quite unfortunate and some of the hardest in my life. We had to let our dear whippets Hemmo & Jymy go (due their age), lost two friends in sports accidents and my father and my wife’s mother. But yea, I guess this is what life is. Series of random events from start to finish. Bad stuff can just slap you in the face again and again. Anyways, it’s (hopefully) turning better now. There’s no light at the end of the tunnel but it’s actually right here, right now and we must see and embrace it. Love life, and live life until the last breath.

I’ve been mostly happily unemployed for a while and decided to spend some time on a healthy diet of riding jumps on local trails and some hardcore (hahaha) skiing in Chamonix.  I’m super happy I managed to ride jumps all along the winter, ski one little bit steeper line and spend some quality time in the mountains with my wife and friends.

It’s been extremely rewarding to get back my bike and ski legs and also become mentally stronger to hit bigger stuff in the future. Recreationally and professionally. A true human performance is built on a balanced body and mind. They’re inseparable. As a bonus, I managed to shake off a few kilos and can now squeeze myself into a few very nice and ultra skinny suites I bought before my startup journey.

Now I’m trying to figure out if there’s anything reasonably meaningful and fun to do professionally? I'm a bit old (51 to be precise) and slightly worn out (lower back issues due gravity sports, huh) dude but reasonably fit, young minded and very energetic.

I got great experience from Nokia / Here Technologies and from a few startups. I’ve seen pretty much everything. Some of it has been real good and some of it real bad. I’d be happy to help you to embrace the good and avoid the bad. I love building great teams and believe everything starts from having the right people in the right places.

I’m mostly seeking an engineering manager and head of engineering type of roles. Something where I can truly leverage my broad expertise to create a healthy, meaningful and friendly working culture for superb outcomes. I’m also extremely curious about all things product as I do believe having them right is key to avoiding problems when things get scaled out. Above all I believe in low stress environments focusing on quality outcome instead of hustle and output. Simple is good, simpler is better.

All shapes of companies and types of employment opportunities are welcome. From shorter freelance consulting gigs to permanent long term positions. I’d be most interested in true remote first roles as we love mountains and one of our long term plans is to relocate to Chamonix.

If the above sounds interesting at all, please hit me up here or send an email to: [email protected] or call me: +49 151 4424 6391. If you feel you’d like to help me find my dream role, please share this post to your network.

Thanks, Jarkko
