Highlights
First week back at the American Red Cross in my new position -- and I found myself in our nation’s capital. Such a privilege to inaugurate this return to humanitarian service by joining Wednesday's White House Medal of Honor ceremony honoring two Union soldiers who had performed extraordinary acts of bravery during our nation’s Civil War. Since 1863, the Medal of Honor recognition has been understood as the highest honor awarded by our government to members of our military. Awarded posthumously to these two soldiers’ descendants, it was easy to see in these two young men the courage and dedication of so many service members and veterans whom we Red Crossers have the honor of supporting, whether in the United States or around the globe. #LoveYourJob
