A week after my birthday, I received the news that I was being laid off, just like many others in the tech industry who have been impacted by the recent wave of layoffs at various companies. Just a week before that, I had taken my parents to Disney for the first time, giving them a piece of the childhood they never had and one they couldn't give me due to our financial struggles. My dad worked with my grandpa in the fields from a young age, while my mom was a nanny. Neither of them finished school, and they've both spent their lives doing hard labor. I've walked in their shoes, and it's because of them—and the community I wanted to serve—that I broke into tech a few years ago.

My journey into tech began with a project to solve a community issue: I created an asset map of nonprofits to help connect people with the resources they needed, which were often only known through word of mouth. That project opened my eyes to the tech world. Although I have a minor in IT, I didn’t pursue a bachelor’s degree in it due to the male-dominated environment I experienced in my classes. Some of the guys didn’t want to work with me until they saw I was good at what I did. Ironically, that experience helped me navigate the tech industry, where I've had to prove myself repeatedly.

As a first-generation college graduate, I’ve always had to pave my own path. Breaking into tech wasn’t just a personal achievement—it was a way to honor my parents' sacrifices and uplift my community.

Now, as I re-enter the job market in a challenging economy, I ask recruiters not to overlook me because of my "limited" years of experience. Instead, consider the skills I bring to the table. I have expertise in technical marketing—crafting white papers and more—along with product management, roadmap design, and software development. I’m committed to continuous learning and mastering new skills and platforms.

I became a Product Manager to see more Latinas and women in leadership roles in this male-dominated industry. Everyone starts at the bottom somewhere, and I’m no different. What matters is the determination to grow, the skills you develop along the way, and the impact you make.

I’m deeply grateful to those who have supported me during my job search, and I ask recruiters to consider the value of my skills, not just the years I’ve spent in the industry.

Hi everyone,

My job was impacted due to a workforce reduction. If you have any openings for roles in product management, program management, project management, analyst positions, or other roles that align with my experience, please reach out to me directly.

I was a Software Tools Product Manager, responsible for sizing tools that helped sales build configurations based on individual customer environments and needs. These configurations supported several product lines at HPE and assisted in the quoting process.

Thank you! #OpenToWork
