Highlights
If you had a heart attack and had to work two hours per day, what would you do?
Not five hours, not four hours, not three—two hours.
It’s not where I want you to ultimately be, but it’s a start.
Besides, I can hear your brain bubbling already: That’s ridiculous.
Impossible!
I know, I know.
What if I told you that you could survive for months, functioning quite well, on four hours of sleep per night, would you believe me?
Probably not.
Notwithstanding, millions of new mothers do it all the time.
This exercise is not optional.
The doctor has warned you, after triple-bypass surgery, that if you don’t cut down your work to two hours per day for the first three months post-op, you will die.
How would you do it?
I got this news when I found out I had MS.
I was told I couldn’t stay in events and hospitality working all the hours G_d could send.
From that day I ask myself, what if my MS got worse? What if I had a heart attack, a stroke and had to work two hours per week, what would I do?
But if you had a gun to your head and had to stop doing ⅘ of different time-consuming activities, what would you remove?
Simplicity requires ruthlessness.
If you had to stop ⅘ of time-consuming activities—e-mail, phone calls, conversations, paperwork, meetings, advertising, customers, suppliers, products, services, etc
What would you eliminate to keep the negative effect on income to a minimum?
Used even once per month, this question alone can keep you sane and on track.
This allows me to stop, to look at who I work with and what’s most important to work on.
This stops me from selling my time or counting my inputs as opposed to my outputs.
Forty hour workweeks are a relic of the Industrial Age.
Knowledge workers function like athletes - train and sprint, then rest and reassess.
Warren Buffett spends a year deciding and a day acting. That act lasts decades.
So ask yourself if your doctor has gives you life altering news about your health and warns you that if you don’t cut down your work to two hours per day for the first three months post-op, you will die.
How would you do it?
I agreed to write a book.
Why?
For one, I get to work with someone I like, know, and trust on this book - honestly, that is a big reason.
The second is that I believe I can TRULY help people.
Someone close to me recently said, " I think you are awake, and the reason you try so much to help people is simply you trying to wake them up to cos it pains you to be awake in a world of those who slumber!"
She is a wise woman and I think she is right.
She is also the person who showed me how wealthy I was, thank you, Sophia.
You see most people think wealth is:
Luxury homes, cars, clothes and lavish lifestyles - that's rich,
NOT wealthy
Wealthy is
waking up when you want freedom - more on this below a good night's sleep peace of mind calm and "boring days" been present - truly present having people to love having people who love you A healthy body and to know you matter
I want to wake people up to how if they have the patience to work for someone for 40 years they have the patience to dedicate 3 to 5 years to building a business that gives them the life they want.
I am not that smart, I have no family and live in countries where the majority of people do not know me but I do have a secret.
My secret is that I have wanted the same thing from 5 to 49!
FREEDOM.
When I was young, it was Freedom to
Freedom to do anything, anytime with anyone anywhere.
Now, the freedom I seek is internal.
It is Freedom from
Freedom from anger, frustration, stress, sadness, and being forced to do anything I do not want to do.
To Never Be A Boss/ Never Have A Boss
I have kept journals for over 22 years, and as I make notes to write my book I have come across a few things that come up again and again.
It's these things I want to share with you here and now
