It's Football Shirt Friday today to raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Bowel Cancer
Our small team at Meglio have been taking part in fundraising and doing what we can, this included a game of online Haxball Olympic Games as a bit of fun – it’s amazing how competitive we all are 😊
Thank you Team Meglio
Bowel Cancer is on the rise, especially in younger people – it’s is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. 46 people die from the disease every day in the UK. That’s more than four football teams.
There are around 42,900 new bowel cancer cases in the UK every year This is too many and often driven by embarrassment to do something about it – we need to change that.
100% of the money raised funds life-saving bowel cancer research through the Bobby Moore Fund.
We are only a small business and have raised over £300 so far, if you’d like to donate to a great cause, please follow the link below, any small amount makes a difference.
If you can't donate or have already done so elsewhere, please like the post to spread the word.

Happy International Women’s Day
Instead of posting a quote, I like to post a story of an inspirational woman, last year it was one of the Meglio Team, the amazing Lihua Gong
For me, these are the kinds of stories that need sharing, so if this post motivates just 1 person to believe they can be better, it’s been worth posting.
This year, I’d like to highlight a woman I have huge respect for, Toni Thorne I have to declare an interest - she is my life partner and partner for life and she’s that for many reasons.
Toni’s Great Great Grandmother was born into slavery, even typing the word makes me nauseous and this is a something that most us can’t even begin to get our heads around, yet 4 generations later Toni has an MBA from the University of Cambridge, is a VP at J.P. Morgan, Board Director at The Premier League Charitable Fund and an International Advisory Council Member at Ankh Impact Ventures with many stories, bumps and turns in the road along the way.
She’s proudly black and speaks with a thick Caribbean accent, and I love her for that – take a step back and imagine how that lands in white, conservative corporate environments, yet still she thrives.
Before arriving in the UK, she hosted her own TV show across the Caribbean; hosted a national phone-in radio show highlighting Women’s issues, founded successful businesses, was a relief worker in Haiti and turned around not one,but two charities all whilst receiving many accolades and being a World Economic Forum Global Shaper.
All this before she was awarded 2 scholarships to come to the UK and study at the University of Cambridge to gain her MBA.
Toni is a fiercely hard-working woman and has more integrity than anyone else I’ve ever met. She sticks to the values that she believes in like no other – they are not just words, but actions. This is a woman that gave up alcohol for lent and decided to carry on for life – her will power is something to admire.
She is intelligent, motivating, energetic and all round good egg - she calls me out when I get it wrong and I listen when she does, such is her wisdom and intelligence.
So please join me in acknowledging, Toni, a wonderful role model of a woman on International Women’s Day.
