Nazar's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Politics from UC Santa Barbara (1996-2000), a Full-Time MBA with a specialization in Entrepreneurial Management from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School (2003-2005), and a Joint JD/MBA degree in Business and Law from Pepperdine Law (2004-2007).2

Highlights
It's with the heaviest of hearts ... this week we lost Mike Sheridan. He valiantly battled cancer for 13+ years and lived the most honorable and purposeful life of anyone I've ever known. It's impossible to explain the impact he had on so many; I will share just a bit here for now.
Above all else Michael was the greatest father. He loved his children more than anything in this world and their happiness and success was his highest priority. He was deeply in love with his wife, they were a dynamic team & soulmates.
Mike has been my best friend and business partner for 21 years. We met our first day of Pepperdine Graziadio Business School in 2003 and started 3 companies together since then. For the past decade I've spent more time with him than anyone else.
He has a presence larger than life; you couldn't interact with him without feeling better about yourself. He was the hardest worker I've ever known, and always lead by example. His integrity and judgment were unparalleled. He refused to take short cuts, and would often talk about needing to be in love with the 'grind'.
Mike was a very successful options trader in his 20's, but he gave it up because the pursuit of money by itself was not meaningful to him. He loved to build: teams, products, cultures. He was a natural leader you wanted to be around because of his infectious energy, positivity, and straightforwardness.
He didn't stand for any BS or put up with it in others. Michael hated stupidity from afar, but he loved everyone up-close. Always sarcastic and LOUD, he had a way of bringing laughter and life to every room he was in. You just wanted to be around him. Mike was the most charismatic and interesting person, but he always made it about you...
In 2005 we spent a year together in a 14x10 room writing business plans for anyone who would hire us. In 2007 he co-founded the first ever marketplace for debt products which he sold to the owner of the NYSE. In 2011 we were so fortunate to have him rejoin Docstoc (he was our first board member), and help us grow the company and sell it to Intuit. And in 2015 he, Yadid Ramot, and I started Comparably to make company cultures better and build our own special culture. He was the heart and soul of Comparably and fought through a particularly rough patch of his disease to help us sell to ZoomInfo in 2022. He returned to his trader roots this past year with great financial success, yet he wanted to go back to doing a new startup all together again.
I watched him over the years, literally change the course of so many careers. He gave you confidence, he shared his strength with you, he was your safety net so that we could all take more chances on ourselves. He made you believe that everything was always going to be okay, and it was because he was there.
Michael, I'm so sad you're gone, but I'm so grateful this world is such a better place for having you as long as we did. I love you forever.
It was a bittersweet moment wrapping up my 2024 UCLA Anderson School of Management class on Entrepreneurship with this incredible group of undergraduate students last night. I really love these folks.
It so was amazing to see the progress they made in such a short time, working as co-founders to bring their startup ideas to life. And even more rewarding was seeing their confidence, presentation skills and teamwork come alive.
It's scary to be at the start of journey, but these are also the moments we look back on with envy, where everything is possible on the road ahead. I can't wait to see what you all go on to build and accomplish in your careers, and the many lives you improve. MGMT 161, thank you for letting me be your guide this past quarter, I'm going to miss our Tuesday evenings together more than you know.
