In Loving Memory of Our Great Connector.

If you are reading this post, there is a good chance that we are connected through the one and only, Sean Finnegan. Like many of you, I had the honor of calling Sean not only a colleague and a mentor, but also a best friend. Sean launched my career, and from the day we first met while he was guest lecturing in Professor Marlene Towns' Digital Marketing class, to the thousands of emails, lunch meetings, and business trips that would follow, to the final conversations I had no idea would be the last, Sean was my forever champion, hype man and defender.

Working alongside Sean for over 3 years, I had a front row seat to the truly unparalleled human that he was. There was not an email, text, or phone call that he would not answer to help a friend... even (or especially) when I tried to tell him he was too busy, that we had a client to call back, that we had to get to that meeting across town. I can still see him in those moments, with a smile on his face, telling me that everything would be ok. There was always enough time for his people. Many ask where Sean possibly found the time to do it all. How, between the countless industry parties, lunches, soccer games, family trips, and conferences, did he find the time to foster such an expansive network. I can confirm from years of juggling his calendar that he did not have the time. He made the time. Because Sean knew what so many of us forget- that there will always be another meeting, another call, another item on the to-do list, but there will not always be another opportunity to help a friend and to show up for your people. Sean was in the business of people, and he was the best. It’s the greatest lesson he ever taught me.

Sean was and always will be larger than life. I will forever remember him with a big smile, an infectious laugh, and a trick up his sleeve. He made everything better and the world will forever be a little less enchanting without him in it. I will miss our talks, our travels, our inside jokes (finger guns forever blazing). Our celebrity selfie king, now forever shining among the stars.

Hunter, Claire, Morgan, Logan, Declan, Cuyler, Keefer, your dad was a rock star, but you were his best work, and he knew it. There was not a call, meeting, lunch or dinner where Sean did not brag on you. From a college acceptance to a goal scored, he beamed with pride when he spoke of you all. He has an incredible legacy in the seven of you and he will be eternally proud of the many amazing things that you all will go on to do. I know he is looking down smiling big.

Melody, you were his angel, may he now forever be yours.

Always, J
