Highlights
You're ready to get to the next level. You're excited to sit in that VP or C Suite seat. You had a great year achieving your goals and being adored by your team.
Then your boss tells you, not yet. You're not ready. Or you see someone else get promoted but not you. Why them and not you.
Guess what, achieving your goals and being loved by your team is only half of what you need to be promoted.
What?????? Yes, you haven't been given the blueprint in totality to get promoted, particularly to the VP or higher ranking roles.
Promotability, particularly crossing the bridge from middle management to higher ranking roles requires growth in strategic perspective, financial acumen, organizational agility, dealing with ambiguity and emotional intelligence.
And one more thing....visibility with current high ranking executives.
Of course, no one likely told you this. If they did, consider yourself one of the lucky ones.
If you're missing one or more of the above competencies, or want to assess where you're at in these areas today, let's chat.

Want to be awesome at empowering others? Can you handle holding others accountable?
These two go hand in hand...you cannot effectively empower w/o knowing how to hold others accountable.
Everyday, I see poorly executed empowerment. Handing an activity off without guidance, support, follow ups and ultimately an accountability to a result.
We talk about how great leaders empower but we do not teach the skill of empowerment, nor accountability. We do not set the tone that if someone wants to be empowered, they also must want to be held accountable.
Empowering comes with providing 3 things: (1) guardrails, not wild wild west environments; (2) support, not distance; and (3) follow ups, not uninvolvement.
Empowerment does not have anything to do with involvement nor guidance. Empowerment has everything to do with giving someone the space to choose the how and to take action.
And when you get that space, you are now responsible and thus accountable to how your actions produce results. Clear, concise and communicated results get you to effective empowerment of others.
