This one’s been a while in the works… Alexander Bente and I are pumped to announce our investment in Greenfly and to partner with Daniel Kirschner and Shawn Green in one of the most exciting growth areas across sports and media – short form content. Oversubscribed rounds are a rarity in today’s market, and in our view a true testament to the quality of the platform and market positioning Greenfly has been able to achieve across the sports industry.

They say it takes a village – we’re excited to back Greenfly alongside some of the sports world’s sharpest investors including our good friends Rob Ryan, Paul Hourigan and Brian Kopp at Ryan Sports Ventures, Verance Capital and Elysian Park Ventures.

On our end it’s been a true team effort to get here but special kudos to Zach Yoshor who’s been a big proponent of the space and team for several years now.

Last week TAPPP announced a landmark strategic partnership to provide interactive viewing experiences to DIRECTV Latin America’s 10M+ households later this year. Beyond this being a major milestone for the company, it’s a great example of the vision, perseverance and versatility it takes to be a leader.

Though headlines like these make it seem as though success was a foregone conclusion, that’s rarely the case for early-stage companies (Tappp was founded a decade ago in Singapore and served a totally different market).

Your initial product is unlikely to end up your big win (when we first invested 5 years Tappp was initially focused on prepaid sports viewing), but may play a critical role in a future product’s liftoff - so as a founder you need to listen to the market and innovate / adapt accordingly.

Partnerships don’t happen by accident or overnight (they’re usually are measured in year-increments) and are skillfully put together by innovative people / businesses looking to shape the future (Sandy is a seasoned vet of the space having spent decades in executive roles in media around the world).

Wins in the startup world are almost never a straight line, and certainly never exactly as predicted (by either investors or founders). That’s why it’s absolutely vital to choose your partners wisely.

Big win for Sundip Agarwal and the entire TAPPP team. At ADvantage, we’re proud supporters!
