What would you do if you knew you could not fail? This might be the most direct way to finding out what you should be doing with your life. Now listen, I know it’s not easy, and it certainly is not quick, but what do you want to do in your life?
Most people are filled with regret for never pursuing the things that deep down, they wanted to pursue at one time or another. Your nursing home when you are 90 could either leave you smiling at the life you lived, or leaving you wondering about the life you could have lived.
For the first time in my life I am pursuing with all my will, the story that I want to write in my life. It won’t be easy, it won’t be a straight line toward the top, but it will be worth it. Why do hard things? What @AndyFrisella says is that life is going to be hard either way. The difference is, will it be hard now, or later? The way I look at it is, if I can mitigate the chances that life will be hard later on by doing the hard work up front, can I avoid life being hard later?
This is your wakeup call to get your head unburied from your phone, from scrolling, from entertainment, and to start pursuing your goals. If I knew I could not fail, I would be pursuing my passion in life, which is to connect the world’s most successful people with younger generations, and it is what I am pursuing at this moment! How do we live a life of fulfillment, purpose, and passion. Jordan Peterson says that today in a world of infinite facts, trying to align your life given all the millions of facts we have at our disposal is making it harder for young people to know what they want to do with their life. I couldn’t agree more, here’s why.
Say you had one arrow and 12 bullseyes, how would you pick which one to aim for? That decision making alone is tiresome. Given that decision fatigue is a real thing, how can we determine where to aim in life? I would start with closing your eyes and thinking about your passions. Do you like to play sports? Talk to others? Solve puzzles? Be creative? Each of these passions, and hundreds more, can help point you in the right direction, towards just 2-3 targets. From there, @GaryVaynerchuk says “taste!”, go try it. I haven’t stayed at one company in my 7 years of my career for more than two years. I have gotten to experience a lot, and learn what I like and don’t like. Through it all, I’ve had my eyes glued to 1-2 targets, and I have been pursuing those targets at all costs. You must get out of your comfort zone to find which targets you want to aim at. You must put yourself in the positions that will lead you there. Think of it like taking two steps closer towards that target, how much easier will that shot be now? Put yourself closer to the action, and make magic happen!
