Highlights
The news is out - our Communications and Events teams at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University earned five (!!!!!) Awards for Excellence from the Communicator Awards.
Two awards were for our website, but the three I'm most personally proud of are the ones for our #ReimagineTheWorld campaign.
The campaign launched nearly two years ago and has served as our foundation in telling personal stories from members of our community and broader ecosystem, sharing what motivates them and their visions for a better future.
I'll never tire of recognizing my team members for their awesome work.
Alexandra Jirstrand, thank you for empowering us to explore a new kind of storytelling and for connecting with video subjects, including my step-mom, as they share their experiences. Kudos to Mariel Schoen for creating and maintaining the campaign's landing page (https://bit.ly/3GYSFfJ if you're curious). Thank you to Seth Kroll for your help with the audio stories, from helpful questions to ensuring sound quality to adding music to set the tone. I'm proud of Lindsay Brownell and Benjamin Boettner, Ph.D. for their writing and editing, both as part of this campaign and all over our award-winning website. Lei Jin added polish with a great logo and an awesome animation for our videos. I cannot overstate how unbelievable of a job Max Rousseau always does producing the incredibly moving videos. And of course, this campaign wouldn't be possible without the support of Jacob Watts and Ana Carolina Villar, MS, CMP, VEMM.
Finally, thanks to everyone who has trusted us with your stories, especially Megan Sperry, Mariana García-Corral Islas, Michael Super, and Pawan Jolly, Ph.D. for kicking it off and Nina Donghia, Ana Raquel P. Santa Maria, Ph.D., Alican Ozkan, and Ayush Noori who let me bring their stories to life.

If you know me, then you probably know that one of the things I love about working at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University is the diverse, international community.
Each day, I get to interact with people from different cultures around the world and have the kind of conversations I enjoyed having while studying abroad, where one moment you can connect with someone over a shared experience and the next you learn that your upbringings were incredibly different.
This year, I had the pleasure of organizing the second Cultural Diversity Celebration Potluck with Ana Carolina Villar, MS, CMP, VEMM. It's always a joy to collaborate with her, and I love providing a space for members of our community to share their cultures through food.
That event also led to a brief chat with Siyuan Stella Wang about multicultural identity. We then had a longer conversation about our backgrounds, where our families immigrated here from, and what pieces of our cultures we keep alive. For #AAPIHertiageMonth, she put together an incredibly astute and well-written piece about her experiences as an #AAPIInSTEM.
I strongly suggest reading it and learning more about cultural diversity and identity from her insights.
Thank you to everyone who shared your delicious dishes with the community earlier this month, thank you Ana Carolina for being a wonderful collaborator, and thank you Stella for teaching us all!
