John Hughes is a multi-talented individual with a diverse background in the arts and education. He is known for his innovative approach to music and sculpture, drawing praise for his unique utilization of the kora instrument. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture & Glassblowing from The Tyler School of Art, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Throughout his career, Hughes has been involved in various educational roles, including serving as an Assistant Professor at Rhode Island School of Design, a Music Teacher at Landmark College, and a Professor at Skidmore College. His passion for teaching extends beyond music, as he has also offered instruction in sculpture and drawing at The Putney School. Additionally, Hughes has shared his musical talents through private lessons and performances under the banner of John Hughes Music.
