Mad kudos to Katie Rainey who put on a wonderful Naval Applications of Machine Learning Conference (#NAML). Again. A great opportunity to learn about the wide range of Naval work on #AI and #MachineLearning, as well as a chance to hang out with some of the best the US Navy and United States Marine Corps.

And thanks to Katie for asking me to give the kickoff Keynote address to start the conference. If you're wondering why I look so much better in the picture than I normally do in person, it's because they used the picture of the indefatigable Justin Fanelli, DON CTO.

Great article from one of the US Navy’s top innovators: Jason Stack. He clearly and succinctly lays out how to be succeful at #disruptiveinnovation and rapidly field needed capabilities in an organization whose rhythms and processes are designed to provide incremental, low-risk advancements. Not all #innovation needs to be rapid or disruptive, but when it does, it has to be done right. We’d be wise to heed the lessons of one who did this masterfully during his time at the Office of Naval Research.
