Highlights
So excited that Khan Academy is making Khanmigo and all our new AI Teacher Tools ✨FREE✨ for educators across the U.S thanks to the support of and partnership with Microsoft! That's a big investment in our classrooms... take advantage of it!
Also mind-blown looking at how quickly our team pivoted, redesigned, and rebuilt these new tools with so much care. Super lucky to be part of this amazing group 🙌
Of course we'll continue to learn and iterate, so come meet Khanmigo–and then reach out–I'd love to hear your thoughts!

https://lnkd.in/e2D_NWdT And here's the launch video I've been working on... First time animating in a while!
🗣️ 🤖 A first experiment in moving shapes around a webpage with my voice.
Because the #LLM can better interpret what we say, we don't need to learn specific commands (a huge plus), making it way more intuitive. Discoverability with #conversationalUX has always been a challenge.
It was fun using the SpeechRecognition API for the first time, but the most fascinating part was tweaking the prompt that got sent up to OpenAI's #GPT model. Nerd warning I ultimately found that the few shot prompting technique was much more reliable if I structured the entire thing as a JSON object.
Originally I made this demo for a talk at NERD: New England Regional Developers in early March 2024, and thought it'd be fun to share it here too.
*Note: one of the (many) benefits of working at Khan Academy (beyond having a vital mission and wonderful teammates) is that I get to think about, play with, and ship things built on top of #genAI for classrooms everywhere _every_single_day. If that's interesting to you, our design team is growing: Senior Product Designer on the Growth team - https://lnkd.in/eAsQ646E Staff Product Designer on Accessibility (#a11y) - https://lnkd.in/enRbUbgG And all kinds of ENG roles!
Hoping I can find time to experiment again in the not-so-distant-future!
Until then, have a great one 👋
