Highlights
One of my greatest learnings since I began practicing meditation over a decade ago is this:
When we pay attention in certain ways it changes our experience in the moment.
And if we learn to internalize these experiences, It can rewire our brain, turning positive states (peace, contentment, gratitude, calm, confidence, determination, presence, etc) into lasting traits.
In essence these beneficial experiences can become more of a default response.
A way of being in the world.
Dr. Rick Hanson has refers to this process as Positive Neuroplasticity.
Or more simply, it's the practice of taking in the good.
And when we take in the good, not only does it often feel good,
it also helps us to cultivate what is needed (resilience and inner fortitude) to meet life's inevitable challenges.
On October 5th, I am teaching a 6-week course that takes a deep dive into these practices and today is the LAST DAY for the early bird discount (20% off).
If you're interested all the details can be found here: practicingcourage.com/pnt

"If you want to record the song then you need to play it." -Rick Hanson
If you want to cultivate inner strengths and resources then you need to experience them.
Having an experience is the first step.
Internalizing that experience is the next.
Sometimes internalization happens unintentionally.
However, there is an opportunity to deliberately practice internalizing beneficial experiences in a way that leads to them becoming enduring strengths and resources which ultimately help us live, and lead better.
Letting go, acceptance, empathy, calm in the storm, balance, gratitude, joy, resilience, determination, compassion, healthy assertiveness etc
These are examples of experiences that can be intentionally internalized.
This is the essence of positive neuroplasticity.
Taking beneficial states (the song)
And turning them into enduring traits (recording the song in the nervous system)
It's been one of the most helpful practices I've come across in my life.
It's also one of the primary practices I now incorporate into my coaching as there are many leadership qualities, and strengths that generally help us live better, which can be cultivated through this practice.
On October 5th I am leading a 6-week training in positive neuroplasticity which contains the tools and practices I've learned over the years from studying with Rick Hanson.
We'll take a deep dive into "playing the songs" that help us thrive and "recording them" :)
EARLY BIRD special ends in just a few days (August 31st). Sign up now for $200 off.
All course info can be found here: practicingcourage.com/pnt
The course is good for 34 ICF CCE's so if you are looking for a chance to gain continuing coach education before the end of the year, this may be a great option.
