❓ What are the marketing pitfalls your brand needs to avoid at start-up stage, on your scale-up journey, or when you're a larger brand trying to say relevant?

🎤 Great to be invited to speak at AdWeek with Charlie Holman (and mainly live out both of our childhood dreams of being TV presenters).

💬 We talked about the classic marketing pain-points our clients face from every stage.

'Ads are not inspiration.'

It was great to have Nick Darken speak at our 'Founders Fireside' last week (ft. a very cute canine co-worker).

He shared lots of wisdom from many years as a creative director and advisor to CMOs, working with brands like Skype, Zapp, GiffGaff and Zoopla.

One thing that stood out to me was the reminder to seek inspiration from outside your industry.

This is especially important when working with start-ups and scale-ups.

At Founders Makers, we help these brands punch above their weight with creative, and so thinking outside of their category is key.

Places I like to go for creative inspiration:

  • Foyles Charing Cross and other independent book stores
  • Long walks around my local area
  • People watching in cafes and parks
  • Old magazines
  • Solo gallery visits
