Kent Pekel

Kent Pekel is an educational leader with a rich background in various educational sectors including school, district, state, federal, and university levels, focusing on bridging research, practice, and policy to support marginalized communities.

Currently, Kent serves as the President and CEO of Search Institute, a well-known nonprofit organization dedicated to applied research and practical resources enhancing the capabilities of schools, youth programs, and other entities to nurture the development of young individuals.

Prior to his current role, Kent held prominent positions such as the founding Executive Director of the College Readiness Consortium at the University of Minnesota and Executive Director of Research and Development at Saint Paul Public Schools.

During the Clinton Administration, Kent served in key roles including a White House Fellow at the CIA, Special Advisor to the Deputy Secretary of State, and Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Education. He initiated his career as a high school teacher in Minnesota.

Kent Pekel's educational journey includes a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies from Yale University, a Master's in Education from Harvard University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Minnesota.
