Taking care of the people and land closest to me gives me strength. Next to our summer campsite is an open field, which I have "adopted" and become its steward.
What started out as barren land eventually became one of the most beautiful places I have seen.
Every day I was out there I would walk the field. I would study the few plants and flowers that grew there, watching their growth and seed cycles, collecting and spreading the seeds as I paced the land, picking up any pieces of garbage that would blow in from the highway.
After 5 years of these weekly walks, this year the field thanked me. it was more full of life, flowers, pollinators, and birds than I have ever seen it.
My heart is so full.
For me it proves when we do small things, over time, those small things become huge.
And if wildflowers are your thing I highly recommend checking out the iNaturalist app. Take photos and learn about the flora and fauna that surrounds you
