Highlights
Reflecting on how I learned to meditate (with a bit of a surprise) and much gratitude to my Professor Harold Roth, PhD all those years ago. Thanks and #gratitude also to Susan Bauer-Wu for encouraging me to set this in writing.
The mindfulness Summit 2023 presented by the nonprofit Becoming Jackson Whole is going to be world class! Here's 4 reasons why it's worth a trip to the Center for the Arts in Jackson Hole this June 13-15:
Reason #1: Dan Harris Opening The Summit will be journalist and former ABC News anchor Dan Harris - the man who experienced an on-air panic attack, took a journey of self-discovery, and eventually put 10% Happier on the map as concept, book and meditation app, and podcast. If I could only tell you one thing about Harris' work, it would be that he originally wanted to call his first book "The Voice in My Head Is an Asshole."
Reason #2: Susan Bauer-Wu Come to listen to speaker Susan Bauer-Wu, President of Mind & Life Institute and author of A Future We Can Love: How We Can Reverse the Climate Crisis with the Power of Our Hearts and Minds a new book by Bauer-Wu inspired by and sharing words from a 2021 conversation between the Dalai Lama and Greta Thunberg. The book is due to drop on the first day of the Summit. 🌍
Reason #3: Dr. David Cresswell Hear Dr. David Cresswell talk about the science of mindfulness, especially as it relates to developing acceptance and equanimity skills for stress reduction and health. 🧠
Reason #4: The "A Team" from Holistic Life Foundation Meet Ali Smith, Atman Smith, and Andrés González - the founders of Holistic Life Foundation (HLF). They'll talk about how they established a organization through social entrepreneurship to address the need for mental health services for children and adults in underserved communities in Baltimore. 🕯️
