Yesterday, I had the opportunity to share The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights’ perspective at the White House before the Council of Chief AI Officers. It was an honor to comment on the historic nature of the OMB Memo on AI governance, particularly the provisions concerning government procurement of AI tools for biometric identification. However, to achieve the spirit of protection that the drafters of the memo hope to achieve, early engagement with impacted communities and organizations will be crucial.
I had the pleasure of speaking alongside Amanda Ballantyne, Elizabeth Laird, and the incomparable Harlan Yu.
