Kristine Theurer

Kristine Theurer, PhD, is a seasoned researcher with over 20 years of experience in the long term care sector.

She has been instrumental in introducing standardized peer support and peer mentoring groups in senior living communities, addressing loneliness among the elderly.

As a published author, Kristine's work, including 'The Need for a Social Revolution in Residential Care,' has earned accolades with record downloads in the Journal of Aging Studies.

She is the driving force behind Java Group Programs, Inc., an organization offering innovative programs like Java Music Club, Java Memory Care, and Java Mentorship to foster peer support and combat social isolation.

Kristine completed her Ph.D. in Gerontology at the University of British Columbia and holds a Master's degree in Gerontology from Simon Fraser University.

Her research contributions have been recognized through prestigious grants such as the SSHRC doctoral grant and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research grant.

Based in Vancouver, BC, Kristine resides with her husband Clayton MacKay and their beloved sheepdog, Molly.
