Highlights
On the week that Ecocoast turns 15 years old I wanted to give a special shout out to my father Angus Jackson and his team International Coastal Management (ICM).
With a background in International Finance and very little coastal or marine engineering experience, my father gave me the opportunity and the trust to move to the UAE in 2007 to establish the branch office for his company ICM.
This first step, gave me the experience and exposure to the marine industry and the idea to start Ecocoast and set me on the path to where I am today.
Particularly in the early days - but even for years afterwards - ICM provided the engineering firepower behind many of our projects and were instrumental in getting us to where we are today.
We’ve collaborated on a variety of projects, ranging from coastal protection initiatives at Sir Bani Yas Island, Nurai Island, and Jangwani Beach, to more specialised undertakings like the Berthing and Moorings for the Dubai National Day Megayacht event. Notably, we also completed our very first Silt Curtain project on Sowwah Island.
These are just a few examples and images of our diverse and impactful work together.
Happy 15th Anniversary, Ecocoast! 🎉
This week, we’re celebrating a significant milestone – our 15th anniversary! Since Dana Liparts and I founded Ecocoast in Dubai in August 2009, we’ve been dedicated to leading the way in marine barrier innovation.
To mark this special occasion, we’re celebrating with our dedicated team this week, whose hard work and commitment have made our success possible. This is a moment to reflect on our achievements, express our gratitude and recognise the collective effort that has brought us to this milestone. There's too many to name everyone, however a massive thank you, to both our current team, who are helping shape the future - and also to past team members who have played a vital role in our journey!
A big thank you as well to our clients and partners worldwide. Your trust and collaboration have been key to our success, enabling us to grow our international presence and contribute to megaprojects globally. We have now completed over 4600 projects across 66 countries. In particular I wanted to recognise some of our clients who have been with us since the very beginning Boskalis, Van Oord, Jan De Nul Group, NMDC Dredging & Marine, Canal & River Trust, Environment Agency, Waterschap Aa en Maas & Waterschap De Dommel. I can't name everyone but each and every project has been a step on the journey to where we are today.
We’d also like to extend our appreciation to Ed Capaldi, Endeavor UAE and Entrepreneurs' Organization - Dubai Chapter. Your support and belief in our vision have been instrumental to our growth. You both have played an important role in helping us scale faster and dream bigger.
It’s worth acknowledging that it is almost 5 years since our acquisition of Bolina Ltd in the UK, a company with a history in manufacturing marine barriers since 1998. During the early days of COVID, Bolina became part of Ecocoast, now operating as Ecocoast Ltd, UK. This integration has expanded our product range and strengthened our market presence and the Bolina range of products has continued to grow over these years.
Our journey has been incredible, and we’re excited about the future possibilities. Here’s to continuing our mission of innovation and advancing marine protection. Cheers to 15 amazing years…and many more successful years to come!
