Lauren Gunn-Sandell, MPH, is a dedicated individual currently pursuing her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology at the Colorado School of Public Health. Her passion lies in infectious diseases, particularly in food safety and investigating foodborne and waterborne illnesses. As a research assistant at the Colorado Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence, she actively contributes to projects centered around routine enteric disease surveillance, foodborne disease burden, and collaborations with health departments at state and national levels.

With a background as the Director of Labs at Kathinka Labs, she oversaw operations at branches in Fort Collins, CO, and Panama City, Panama. Lauren's expertise as a TTB Certified Beer Chemist allowed her to consult in the beverage industry, focusing on enhancing quality in craft beer, kombucha, cold brewed coffee, and spirits.

Lauren is a distinguished alumna of Colorado State University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Fermentation Science and Technology with a minor in Food Science and Safety. During her academic journey, she immersed herself in various extracurricular activities, including serving as the President of the Food and Fermentation Science Club, working as a Teaching Assistant, mentoring international students, and interning at food companies and a winery.

Her rich professional experience encompasses roles such as Enteric Disease Interviewer at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Lab Manager, Lab Technician (QA), and Quality Assurance Executive Assistant at various organizations. She has also contributed her skills as an Assistant Wine Maker at Lost Prairie Winery, an Intern at Vibrant Veggies, and an Academic Tutor at INTO University Partnerships.

Lauren's educational background, coupled with her diverse professional experience, highlights her strong work ethic, scientific acumen, and commitment to public health and food safety.
