As I wave goodbye to Black History Month, and welcome Women's History Month I just want to give a HUGE shout out to these two - who are neither Black nor women. LOL.
I usually don't like redirecting attention away from those who should get their flowers during months that are meant to celebrate their achievements and resilience, but as I reflect on my last two years as a leader of this small but mighty team I'd like to make a tiny exception.
The reason is simple: I can't imagine a better celebration of my Black womanhood in the corporate world than by reflecting on the way these two pour into me on a daily basis. They tirelessly help foster a wonderfully beautiful work and team culture that unapologetically honors, elevates, listens to, respects and is curious about my perspective and my lived experience. I never feel small, I only feel seen, cared for and celebrated. They remind me that I can do anything, and I cherish the ways we uplift and support one another every single day.
Jim Moriarty and Lino Reveles Trujillo, thank you for all you do on a daily basis to demonstrate your unwavering commitment to fighting the good fight alongside me. Your commitment to celebrating and uplifting women of all hues is evident in all you do and how you both show up in the world!

I had such a wonderful time sharing the stage with Libby Rodney at the 2023 Global Black Economic Forum at my first ever Essence Festival of Culture. Our session, "GROUNDED IN TRUTH: THE STATE OF WEALTH AND HEALTH EQUITIES” used recent The Harris Poll data to assess the progress between Black and Brown Communities regarding Health, Wealth and Work and shared practical insights and areas of opportunity as we continue to move toward a more equitable world. It wasn't lost on me that our talk was mere hours after the Supreme Court decision on Affirmative Action, Student Loan Forgiveness and LGBTQ+ Rights. There's still so much more work to do.
"Nwankpa said that the importance of having the numbers is seeing where the gaps are and the kind of gaps that exist so 'we can continue to collectively work towards more equality and equity.' She added that 'despite the inequities faced, she was amazed by how Black people continue to carve out spaces for themselves, create boundaries, lean into rest culture, and teach their children about issues like systemic racism and equity so that they can be equipped and adequately informed.'" Thank you to Alphonso David for inviting us to share this critical data and our insights on what the future may hold.
