Highlights
I've spent the last 6 months building a house of cards.
With every new layer, a relief. With every new relief, a gust of wind. With every new gust of wind, a tumble.
This has been the case since April when the richest man in the world made an offer to buy Twitter. At that time, I had just taken over the Curation team across the Americas, leading not only Brazil and LatAm but also the US and Canada. As you can imagine, I was full of plans to integrate the region and make it even more relevant in the global scenario. The challenge was to do this in the midst of uncertainties and gusts of wind that caused fear and anxiety in all of us – and insisted on blowing away our house of cards. Holding on to the #OneTeam spirit was all we had left. And that's what we did. I'd never seen a team as united, supportive, and focused as ours.
In Brazil 🇧🇷, we contextualized the most relevant stories about the 2022 Elections and developed innovative solutions that improved customer experience. In North America 🇺🇸🇨🇦, we also went beyond to protect the integrity of conversations related to the Midterm Elections by developing new features to elevate high-quality information from reliable sources. The Spanish team 🇲🇽 led the company's efforts to serve Spanish-speaking users in the US, a HUGE win! Not to mention global projects related to the World Cup, HITL, product development, etc. All of this (and much more) was achieved in the midst of a real storm.
Day by day, week by week, month by month.
The gust of wind blows. The house of cards comes tumbling down. We rebuild it stronger. As many times as required.
If one person got down, ten were there to support them. And that's how, card by card, the Curation team resisted until the last day of its existence. We served the public conversation for seven years, innovated content distribution on social media, helped the company understand that relevance and engagement are not the same things, collaborated on the development of machine learning models, and fought misinformation. Yes, we did create a solid foundation for our eternal house of cards. It no longer falls, it stands firmly. Too bad it's off Twitter.
Thank you, Curation! I'm so proud of the story we wrote together.
Looking forward to what comes next in my career 👊
