Yesterday, our awesome daughter welcomed Elsie into our home, coming all the way from California! Elsie is a service dog trained by the remarkable team at Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA). This isn't just about bringing in a new family member; it's about celebrating independence, empowerment, and the incredible generosity of GDA.
The journey of our daughter's new furry partner, from a playful puppy to a fully trained service dog, has been truly impressive and humbling. Thanks to GDA's ADI accredited world-class training, personalized instruction, and lifetime support, Elsie is ready to make a huge difference in our lives.
Training a service dog is a complex process that can take up to two years. Coupled with puppy raising and support services, it can cost up to $60,000. GDA covers all these expenses, showing their dedication to making these services barrier-free.

I also want to highlight the incredible prison training program run by GDA | TLC. This program not only helps to meet the growing demand for service dogs but also provides incarcerated individuals with a chance for education, rehabilitation, and giving back to the community. Incarcerated trainers work closely with the dogs, using positive reinforcement techniques, which creates a deep bond and a transformative experience for both the trainers and the dogs. This unique initiative truly shows how GDA is changing lives in so many ways.
