Highlights
I recently decided to pursue time instead of money for the first time in my career and am now working ~3.5 days a week fractionally (supporting two amazing companies, might I add!).
While my income will likely be 30-35% less this year, this is what the extra time has gotten me:
- One hour more of sleep every night
- Every Friday spent fully with my one year old son taking adventures around the city
- A private poetry lesson every other week editing my first chapbook
- Two extra hours to workout every week
- Nearly always ending my day by 4 PM
- No night and weekend work
- A little more time to grocery shop and cook
- No days where I do not go outside (It used to be 1-2 in the past, easily!)
- Rarely have to do errands on nights or weekends
35% less isn’t a small amount in SF. And as a former sales leader, my income has already fallen quite a lot from what it was in my late twenties when I managed 5-14 person sales teams.
While I’m open to picking up more work at times, I have never felt better in my working life.
