You know, I typically avoid discussing politics on LinkedIn, but this post is about more than just politics, it’s about the future of Brazil as an economic power. When a federal judge can unilaterally shut down a platform like X (formerly Twitter), it forces us to confront a critical question: what kind of country are we becoming?

X isn’t just a social media platform. It’s an essential tool for countless brands to reach their customers, researchers to share groundbreaking work, journalists to report the news, and communities to stay connected. Shutting it down because of a few individuals (whether you agree with them or not) puts all of this at risk.

And don't start about the crap about X being filled with racists, bigots, or other problematic elements. Yes, sometimes X looks like a breed between a crackhouse and a mental institution, but those issues existed long before Elon Musk, and, in fact, before he came along, X was also plagued by even more sinister elements, like pedophiles.

The real issue here is that some powerful people have lost control over the platform. Before Musk's takeover, logs containing the IP addresses of political adversaries were routinely sent to the same court that is now shutting down X. Adding to this, certain Brazilian influencers, (and only those aligned with a particular side) had near admin-level access to the platform, giving them the power to instantly ban anyone who dared to challenge their views, for example.

Yesterday, Brazil officially joined the "prestigious" club of countries that have banned X/Twitter. And the same judge has already imposed massive fines, amounting to almost 50 times the minimum wage, for anyone caught using VPNs to access the platform. I wonder how will they enforce this? Perhaps by breaking into your house on a Saturday morning while you're connected to a VPN and scrolling through Twitter?

This isn’t just about one platform; it’s about the direction our country is heading. When a nation begins to stifle innovation and suppress freedom, it’s not just a service that’s at risk—it’s our future. Brazil deserves better. We need to rethink how power is wielded and how it affects our collective progress.

Almost three weeks away, and I’m already feeling the effects of Puerto Rico Withdrawal Syndrome! 😅 The vibrant energy, the warmth of the people, and the dynamic startup scene in Puerto Rico have left a lasting impression. But while I miss the island, Brazil has kept me on my toes with a whirlwind of activity since Rio Innovation Week.

This week has been incredibly productive, with key product meetings at Novo Nordisk as we fine-tune the final details of the BioSnapper. Tomorrow marks a significant milestone as we close this chapter, and I couldn’t be prouder. It’s immensely satisfying to see months of dedication and hard work come to fruition, and it’s clear we’re on the right path.

But this is just the beginning. BioSnapper is about to embark on an exciting new phase, where it will be rigorously tested in a heavily regulated environment. As we gather more valuable data, we’re already planning to roll out additional features that will push the boundaries of what our technology can achieve.

Once the event wraps up, I’ll be packing my bags and heading back to Puerto Rico to reunite with my partner, André, just in time for our Midpoint evaluation. We’re gearing up for an intense and exhilarating few months, ready to work hard and play tropical.

Part 2 of our journey kicks off with a massive sales road trip across the island, where we’ll be meeting with leads, exploring new opportunities and projects, and taking BioSnap to new heights. 🚀
