Lynne Christy Anderson

Director, English Language Learning, Boston College and Creative Writing Instructor

Lynne Christy Anderson is a former professional chef turned educator and author based in Boston, Massachusetts.

With a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics from UMass Boston and a B.A. in English from Bates College, Lynne has a strong background in language and cultural studies.

Her passion for food and culture led her to teach English to immigrant adults, where she discovered a shared love for discussing food from their home countries.

Inspired by these experiences, Lynne authored the book 'Breaking Bread: Recipes and Stories from Immigrant Kitchens,' delving into the role of food in transitioning to a new culture.

In addition to writing, Lynne has designed and taught classes focusing on cultural exploration through cooking to school-aged children in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Currently, Lynne teaches writing and literature courses to immigrant and foreign students at Boston College and Bunker Hill Community College in Massachusetts.

Recognized for her writing, Lynne was the Bread Loaf Rona Jaffe Foundation Scholar in non-fiction in 2008.
